To activate your new accounts, you must show two pieces of valid identification (one from List A and the second one from List A or List B).
List A
- Canadian driver's licence
- Canadian passport
- Certificate of Canadian Citizenship
- Certification of Naturalization (paper document or card)
- Permanent resident card
- Immigration Canada Document IMM 1000, 1442, 5292 or 5688
- Canadian birth certificate
- Social Insurance Number Card
- Old Age Security Card, embossed with individual's name and Social Insurance Number
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Provincial or territorial health insurance card (where permitted under provincial or territorial law. Cannot be used in Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia or PEI.)
- Document or card, bearing the individual's photograph and signature, issued by any of the following authorities or their successors:
- Insurance Corporation of British Columbia
- Alberta Registries
- Saskatchewan Government Insurance
- Department of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations
- Department of Transportation and Public Works of the Province of Prince Edward Island
- Service New Brunswick
- Department of Government Services and Lands of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Department of Transportation of the Northwest Territories
- Department of Community Government and Transportation of the Territory of Nunavut
- Provincially issued ID card with photo (in lieu of driver's license) including Ontario Photo Identification Card
- Foreign passport
- US driver's license
- US birth certificate
List B
- Employee identity card, issued by an employer that is well known in the community, bearing the individuals photograph
- Bank or automated banking machine or client card, issued by a member of the Canadian Payments Association (with name and signature)
- Credit card, issued by a member of the Canadian Payments Association (with name and signature)
- Credit Card issued by a known retailer operating in Canada
- Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) client card bearing photograph and signature
- Senior Citizen's privilege card
- Introduction letter from previous bank with Signature
- Sponsor, personally known by RBC client or community member
- Canadian university or college student card with photo
- Diplomatic ID issued by Foreign Affairs
